The Spurious Landscapes Project is built around a hybrid electro-acoustic prepared piano. The preparation system runs radio signals through the wires of the soundboard: playing the instrument involves the use of magnets and other materials on the soundboard as well as keyboard manipulations. The result is a collection of layered recordings, which both generates complexity and insures that no two playbacks will be identical. Clairaudient debuts the first two versions of this piece in the Outer Ear Festival.
